Houston...

we have a problem! David is super sick!! Like temperature, body aches, chills, vomitting, can't eat, hot, then cold,...cold, then hot, sleeping non-stop, but not really sleeping!! He's staying home from work today to hopefully sleep!! He was huddled on the couch last night like a snow skiier in full attire, ski hat, 2 blankets, and still shivering!! :(
I'm trying my best to nurse him back to health, while keeping my distance so "we" (the baby and me) don't get sick. The scariest part is that his parents fly in this week!! It started yesterday and I think he broke his fever already so it might be just the 24 hour bug, but it's still scary timing! Say prayers he feels better; especially when both families are in town and we have the big gender reveal!! He has allergies sometimes that give him problems, but I haven't seen him this sick since we were dating back in 1999!!! YIPES!!

Baby H in 4D!!

Well, I guess all I have to do is post wishes on this blog and they'll come true huh? A few weeks ago, I told you I was investigating 4D ultrasounds. I was excited to find out that my tech does it, but she wasn't too "into it" when I asked her to do it for us on Monday. It lasted about 5 seconds and was not what you see in the movies!!

Well, my friend Heidi told me that she had a HUGE PRESENT for David and I and it couldn't wait!! So we went over there and she gave us this letter that I read out loud and cried as I read...

If you can't read it, it says:

A Present for My Mommy and Daddy!

I love you both so much. One day I will get to show you how much. You both have been through so much. You have been so patient and understanding through all the ups and downs on your journey to meeting me. I can not wait to meet you and April is too long to wait. Will you come and see me on February 4th at 2:30pm? I have made special arrangements for you both. Invite anyone you would like. I know you and daddy are loved by so many!

See you soon. Love, Baby H.

We were a bit confused, but then she explained she got a $150 4D ultrasound DONATED to us from a company who does them in a unique way! It's in a movie theater setting that holds up to 30 people using an 82" movie screen!!!

82"???

Baby H will be on an 82" screen in 4D for 30 minutes!!!!!!!! WOAH! I feel faint!!

We're doing it after we reveal the gender to our families so there won't be any risk of the sneaking a peak at the gender during the u/s!!

Heidi told them all about our struggles to get pregnant and the lady agreed to donate a 4D u/s as long as I "advertise" her business on the blog!! That's easy!! Now I really feel like a columnist to a newspaper!! lol

Check out the website... http://www.sneakpreview4d.com/ I CAN'T WAIT! I'll post those pictures on here so you can peek at Baby H too!!! Thank you Heidi for this gift that will live on forever in our hearts!!

Oh, and during all this excitement, we turned 30 weeks pregnant!! 30 weeks!! The countdown is now in the 60's! Double woah!! Here's a picture I found of a baby at 30 weeks. This is not an actual picture of our baby in case you didn't know!! lol

FAQ

Here are some answers to a couple of questions I've received via phone/email from "our readers"...I feel like a columnist!! tee hee :)

1. Where is Salad Creations you rave so much about?
Salad Creations is on Vandy and Airport in the new shopping center and it is delish!! May want to split an item because the portions are HUGE-O-MUNGO!! Here is the link to find one in your area if you're not a "local". Click Here: YUMMY FOOD!!!!

2. Did you get a 4D u/s on Monday?
We did get a 4D u/s on Monday, but u/s tech said baby wasn't cooperating so it was not that clear. Still neat to see even tho it was blurry. We're going to try next time.

3. When will you be announcing the gender on your blog already!!!?
Mark your calendars!! We're telling both families together in February so expect an exciting post with pictures somewhere around February 3rd!! :) Accept my apologies for it taking so long! Believe me, I want to shout it from the rooftops as well! Who's idea was this anyway? Oh yea, it was mine!! (hiding guilty face under desk)

4. Do you have a copy of the lyrics for the song Erica sang at your shower??
Here are the BEAUTIFUL lyrics that Erica (Julie's daughter) sang to the baby at the shower! Still trying to get a clip of Erica singing it, but this'll give you a taste in the meantime!!! It's something I will never forget! Thank you Lucia Jenkins for writing this amazing piece!!

NEW EYES

Ever since you were just a little girl, you've rehearsed how to be a mom

Singing lullabies to your favorite doll, you've kept her safe from harm.

.

Now it's happening, now it's for real, and your head's in a bit of a whirl.

You keep wondering how it's gonna feel to bring a child into the world.

.

A little child, to hold and rock to sleep.

In this whole world, there's nothing feels so sweet.

.

Sailing out on an ocean so blue, under brilliant bright blue skies

Now a child will share this with you, seeing everything through new eyes.

.

New eyes will see things they've never seen before.

New eyes will lead you through each open door.

.

A little child, a part of each of you

See her smile, your lives begin anew.

.

Wind of chain moving you along to a whole new way of life.

Loving chain pulls you on and on, child, husband and wife.

.

New eyes will see things they've never seen before.

New eyes will lead you through each open door.

Labor Class...

was not worth our money or time. :( Wah! It was neat to be in the "club" of parents, but the instructor was new (2nd class), material was basic, and presentation was a little discombobulated!! David gave the class an F and I gave it a D- because I felt too guilty to actually "fail" the class and instructor. We did make the best out of it by writing funny notes back and forth, couple watching, and we got the giggles big time many times at the "mature content" and we were extremely "punchy" after 7 hours!

The best part of the day was when we went to lunch at "Salad Creations" which just opened in town and it was DELICIOUS! David was reluctant to go to a place with the name "salad" in the title, but we split a wrap and we both thought it was to die for! I'm actually still thinking about it!! The guy ahead of us got a salad and said he's bringing it home and said he cant get 4 salads out of it!! I want to tell everyone about it. I want to start a franchise in my house! It was that good!! Try it and I know you'll love it! Gets the buds watering just thinking about it.

In about 12 hours, we'll get to see our baby again!! This has been the longest stretch we've gone by far and it's driving me crazy! I looked back in our records and the last u/s was on 11/30/07!! OMG! That's "last year"!! Unacceptable!! To say I'm excited is an understatement!! (bit nervous too, but I'm trying to ignore that part of my brain) I just want everything to be OK, healthy, growing naturally and "NORMAL"!!! Baby has been kicking up a storm so I'm feeling confident, but still a bit anxious. I think the baby liked the class today because we could actually see the skin on my belly moving, popping, kicking, violently like popcorn! It was pretty cool!

I'll post asap after my appt tomorrow at 9:40. I think we may go early to get a good seat!! :) Say prayers!! xoxo

Baby Weekend

Well, this sure is a baby filled weekend! We're getting all these prezzies organized in the nursery and it's SO MUCH FUN!!! Is it too early to be "nesting" bc I'm there!! Even Charley joined in on all the fun!! He loves paper, tape, plastic, boxes and was going nuts like it was Christmas morning.

We're going to BRU today use some of our gift cards to buy clothes and make some adjustments to our registry. We realize we don't need anymore washcloths, blankets, toys, hooded towels, receiving blankets as we got a bunch at the shower and we still have those little things on the registry. FUN!!

Then tomorrow we're going to an ALL DAY labor prep class for new parents!! I'm very excited and nervous we'll be overwhelmed with all the information. We've both been reading a lot so hopefully we have a leg up, but the class was $95 smackaroos so we'd better learn A WHOLE LOT OF NEW STUFF!! The cost of the class is very disturbing to me and I'm going to put it on the comment card at the end if they even have those. If not, I'm writing a letter after the class to let them know how I feel. Here is why I'm upset about the price of the class:

1) The cost of the class is A HUGE DETERRENT for new moms/dads to attend and become educated about all that goes into delivery and caring for a newborn. Single moms or parents on welfare need the education tremendously, but it's not feasible to pay $95 for a 7 hour class.

2) The cost of the class was $75 in 2007 and bumped up to $95 in 2008! That's a big jump if you ask me!!

3) It's free at most hospitals for this same class!! If not free, it's usually a much reduced price like $30-$40 which I could accept a little bit more.

So I'm excited and will go there with an open mind, but we'd better learn a lot of my follow up letter might not be too pleasant! We won't know unless we try and I think it'll be a neat experience for both of us overall because we have very limited experience with babies. Plus, we're going to a baby class for NEW PARENTS! Hello! "NEW PARENTS"!! That'll be us in 74 days! WOAH! That's deep.

Then on Monday we have an ULTRASOUND!!!!!!!!! YAAA! Can't wait to see our baby again! I think it's been about 6-8 weeks!! It's been so long that I can barely remember! Here's even better news.....

I was talking to a colleague after school on Friday (whose wife is pregnant) and I asked him when/if they were going to find out the gender. He said they were having a 4D u/s on Wednesday. My eyes/body turned green with envy and my ears perked up. I asked him where he was having it done and he said the name of his doctor. It was a doctor who partners with my doctor!! I know the 3 doctors share one ultrasound tech so neurons were going off in my head....I asked who his u/s tech was and he said Nadene, the same lady we always/only go to.

Ding, ding, ding...confusion and excitement set in as I raced to the nearest phone and called the doctor's office immediately to get more details. The nurse said our u/s tech has the capability of doing 4D ultrasounds, but WE JUST HAVE TO ASK FOR IT when we get our next u/s!! That's it? And the baby has to "cooperate" (whatever that means). I asked about extra charge and she said it's the same price! I was aghast! I HAD NO IDEA! We've had 13+ u/s and it's never been offered, hinted at, discussed, or anything!! We just assumed she didn't have the capability, but now we know different. Needless to say, we'll be asking for it on Monday and I can't imagine if we get the opportunity to see our baby up close and personal like that. I'd invite all of our family and friends to pack in the room, but they don't know the gender yet so it'd be too risky. 14 more days until David's family and my family are together and we reveal the gender! Can't wait!!!

Here's another picture of Julie who knows how to make everyone cry and create really moving showers! We're so blessed to be so loved. I heart my Julie!!

Baby Shower

WOW! What an event this baby shower was yesterday! It was incredible! Tears were flowing everywhere from everyone!! I felt like I had pledged this sorority for 4 years and finally was accepted with open arms with no pledge fees!! I felt so loved and welcomed into mommy-hood and know those feelings will only continue!!

I tried to caption each picture, but couldnt get it all lined up so I'll tell you the overview and let the pictures speak for themselves.

One of the neatest parts of the shower was the surprise Julie had for me and Baby H!

Julie had problems getting pg with her first child, Erica and she would pray and pray to become pregnant until one day she wrote a letter to God in her diary praying for a talented, content, warm, happy baby. Julie read that letter aloud and we all know that her dream came true as she had Erica who is now 12 years old and a beautiful spirit. At Julie's baby shower for her daughter Erica, her friend Lucia Jenkins wrote and sang a song for Julie.

Well, wouldn't you know it...Erica decided to sing the same song to me and Baby Hutcheson! Tears were flowing like waterfalls from everyone!! It was magical and touching! I'll try to get the lyrics from Julie and post it on the blog. It was a moment we'll never forget. Thank you Julie. Thank you Erica. Thank you Nathan (Julie's son) for giving Baby H $10 of your hard earned money when I know you probably had to clear our your piggy bank for that. Thank you Kelle for taking pictures like Michelle Reid. Thank you Jen for taking notes and being there. Thank you Colleen for video taping the entire experience. And thank you to all of the friends who were there and weren't there. My heart is so full and so happy! It's spilling over into my belly and Baby Hutcheson is lapping up the love!!

29 Weeks!!!!!

I feel like I should bake a cake every Wednesday to celebrate another week!!  We sound so pregnant with every passing week.  When someone asks me how far along I am, I sometimes round up and say "almost 7 1/2 months" and it shocks my own ears when it comes out of my mouth!  Yes, I'm only fibbing by a week, but that's what I throw in "almost".  Baby has had normal movements everyday, but the last 2 days have been crazy with movement which I loooooooooooove with a capital "L"!!

My superhuman friend Julie is having a baby shower for me at her house tomorrow.  I'm so nervous.  I feel like it's the first day of kindergarten.  I know I won't be able to sleep tonight.  I feel like it's for someone else.  I feel so honored to have a shower.  I never thought that was going to happen.  I've been to so many before and sat through them with a stinging smile yearning to be a part of this "club" of moms.  I feel like I'm being initiated into a woman sorority that never granted me membership before.  I'd been denied everytime and now they're welcoming me with open arms.  Like Kelly Clarkson says, "I can't believe it's finally happening to me."

Check out this moving graphic of our baby on this site!!  That's what I'm feeling everyday!!!

SEVEN MONTHS!!!!!!!!!

WOW! I think I'm still in shock that today marks SEVEN MONTHS! The beginning of the 3rd trimester! We've got a baby blinking and growing eyelashes in my tummy right now!! What in the world is happening? It's so exciting I can barely stand it!! I feel the baby moving on a regular basis and it's like the first time each and every time!! I always knew I wanted to get pg because I knew an actually baby would be at the end of that pregnancy and that's what we yearned for so much! But, what I didn't expect was to enjoy being pg just this much! I never let myself go there. I always skipped to the end of the 40 weeks with a baby in our arms. I never truly thought about what would be entailed during each of those 40 weeks. Needless to say, I'm enjoying every single second!!

Our next u/s was moved up 2 days and is now on Martin Luther King Day, (1/21)! Oh how I love that MLK day!! Not only is it a day off for me, but now we get to see our peanut again! It seems like it's been forever since we have seen our baby! I can't wait to get a glimpse of the growth and say hi!! He/she says hi everyday with kicks so I think it'd be only friendly to do it back!! Hee hee I'll post 28w belly pix later on :)

Here are some happenings with Baby H if you'd like to take a peek :)
Here's a picture I found online of what our baby looks like at 28 weeks :)

Diabetes test came back normal. No diabetes here. Ya. Xoxo

Clarify...

The picture below is not actually our baby, but one I found online who is 27 weeks along. I should've clarified that. Family and friends are calling and emailing me wondering when we had a 3D ultrasound! We didn't have one, but are considering one if it's not too expensive. Insurance won't cover it I'm sure and my dr. doesn't do it. Anyone know where we could inquire about in Naples?

Still waiting to hear back about the diabetes test from yesterday. Results were supposed to be in by 9am today, but they are having problems with the lab. Argh! I'll keep you posted. :)

27 Weeks

Woah people, we're really getting up there in weeks!  What in the world is going on?  I literally pinch myself daily because I can't believe it's really happening!!  Feeling great with no complaints!!  I had my glucose test today where I had to drink sugar water 1 hour before they drew my blood to test for diabetes, which can occur during pregnancy.  I'll get the results back tomorrow, but from what I understand it can be controlled with a special diet so I'm not super concerned either way.  Now that it's 2008, it's really starting to hit me how close all this really is!!  We're due 4/4/08, but saying we're due in April is misleading because it's at the very beginning of the month.  What if go in March?  Um, hello, that's like right around the corner?? So exciting no matter when it happens!!  Baby is moving everyday and it's amazing every single time.  I'm going to miss being pg, my belly, the sensations and the peace I feel everyday because of it.  I never thought I'd feel that way, but it's truer than ever.  Here are some photos of our peanut we love so dearly already!!  xoxo
