showing off her backpack she loves so much and picked out after a long arduous process online...
feeling happy in the hallway on her way....
this'll be a classic shot one day in her distant future..
like my mom, I love pictures of people from behind. Im borderline obsessed with from the back shots lately....
she went straight to the kitchen and made me breakfast of french fries...
this made my heart skip a beat when I saw it at open house...
She cried pretty hard when I left (someone poke my eyes out with pencils when she cries begs for a "mommy day") so I left in a jiffy, but did a walk back to peek on her a few minutes later and I saw her coloring her paper while wiping tears away and getting back in control. She said that she thought about Dora and one of her stuffed animals at home and that helped her calm down.
She was all smiles day 2....
Day 3 was pretty bumpy where she was trying to run down the hall with me, but her amazing teacher swooped in to save the day and I made a quick getaway like I just robbed a bank with my blonde hair flying out my window as I zipped off...she brought a pic collage with her that she made with Ms. Lisa.
just before the meltdown that ensued inside...
her pic collage is front and back with everyone in her family who loves her so much...
I saw this in the hall as I was leaving and almost fainted...
Day 4 was seamless and happy...
I brought her a little early because I think the crowds of parents and kids overwhelmed her a bit and it did the trick. She had some time with her teacher to warm up before the crowds arrived. We were at a birthday party the other day and she whispered to me like she had a big secret, "Mommy, can u hold my hand a little bit extra until I feel warmed up here?" ummmm, hello sweetness like sugar!!
Day 5 was super too. I think she's really "warmed up" now so hopefully this'll continue. She's come SUCH a long way where she used to cry so much when she was younger. Like all day sometimes. She was that girl who couldn't stop the waterworks. I remember peeking out at her on the playground when I was at work and she was maybe 2-3 and she was following her teacher around wailing so loudly while everyone else was playing gleefully. Everyone had to hide the knives that day! OY! After a few days, we got to the point where she wasn't crying all day, but at 90% of the drop offs. I knew it was normal and I knew she stopped moments after I left, but it's still a sinking feeling to leave with for the rest of the day. Im hoping that's behind us bc I like the hugs and kisses when I leave the most. This smile sticks with me all day until pickup...
Day
She's obsessed with her backpack and lunchbox. She didnt buy it at Publix, but you'd think she did when she insisted on bringing both with her for a shopping excursion....(with tags on even)
Ms Sue comes to our house to help Lily with her speech. Some of her words are off so Sue is working with her and we've seen improvements already. It's pretty neat to watch and listen to Lily from the kitchen interact with her teacher and the funny things she says.
What a whirlwind all this has been, but it's all worth it when I see her thriving, growing, and becoming her own person comfortable in her own skin. Nothing makes me happier than when their lives feel in sync and they are happy. (relieved sigh)
